With the generous support of Lotterywest, we’ve been busy transforming the Woodvale Social Centre into a space that celebrates innovation in aged care, dementia support, and intergenerational connection.
We’d also like to thank Jessica Stojkovski MLA for her ongoing support and advocacy for this project and our community.
As always, we put our community at the centre of planning for this project. Through informal chats, walk-throughs, and feedback sessions with customers, young people, staff, and stakeholders, we listened to what mattered most and how the Centre could be more engaging and inclusive for everyone.
The results have been incredible. From new flooring, curtains, and flexible furniture, to a dual-purpose pool and air hockey table, every change has made the space more welcoming and adaptable. Highlights include a dementia-friendly nursery where seniors can care for lifelike babies, offering comfort and connection, along with a mini Men’s Shed, a ladies’ salon and sewing centre, and a refreshed, dementia-accessible food service area.
We’ve also continued with our intergenerational program that bring different age groups together in ways that are playful, meaningful, and inclusive.
Each of these enhancements is a reflection of our customers’ voices, ensuring Woodvale continues to be a place where people feel connected.
