From the desk of the Chairperson

Dear Stakeholders,

As I reflect on the past year, I am reminded that the aged care sector’s greatest strength lies not in navigating calm waters, but in how we respond when the currents shift unexpectedly. This year has certainly tested our resilience, yet I am proud to report that Community Vision has emerged more focused, and more committed than ever to delivering exceptional care to our customers.

A Year of Regulatory Uncertainty

The introduction of new aged care legislation represented a watershed moment for our industry—one that promised to elevate standards and improve outcomes for older Australians. However, the delayed implementation of these reforms created significant operational challenges across the sector. The extended period of uncertainty made strategic planning difficult, while the condensed timeline for eventual compliance stretched our resources and required rapid adaptation from our teams.

Despite these headwinds, our organisation approached these challenges with determination and commitment to our values.

Operational Performance and Financial Stewardship

The delayed legislation did impact our strategic planning, however the management team proved to be skilled at managing risk and keeping our team focussed on delivering customer care. This prudent approach has positioned us well for the future.

Our People—Our Foundation

Throughout this period of change, our staff demonstrated remarkable professionalism and adaptability. They maintained their unwavering focus on client wellbeing even as administrative demands increased. On behalf of the Board, I extend my deepest gratitude to every member of our team.

Looking Ahead

With regulatory certainty moving towards better certainty, we enter the new financial year with clarity and momentum.

The aged care sector stands at an important juncture. The reforms, despite their challenging implementation, represent a positive step toward recognising the complexity and importance of aged care. We embrace this new era and the opportunity it presents to demonstrate that quality care and financial sustainability can coexist.

Board Renewal and Governance

This year saw significant renewal at the Board level, with four highly respected directors concluding their tenure and five new members joining us. I want to express my sincere gratitude to our departing directors for their years of dedicated service, strategic insight, and unwavering commitment to our mission. Their contributions have been instrumental in shaping our organisation and positioning us for future success.

At the same time, I am delighted to welcome our new Board members, who bring diverse expertise spanning clinical care, finance, and strategic transformation. This infusion of fresh perspectives, combined with the institutional knowledge of our continuing directors, has strengthened our governance capacity at a critical time for the sector. The transition has been managed thoughtfully to ensure continuity while embracing the value of new thinking.

Acknowledgements

I wish to thank my fellow Board members for their wisdom and steady guidance during a demanding year. To our executive leadership team, thank you for your strategic vision and operational excellence. And to our clients and their families, thank you for entrusting us with your care—we do not take this responsibility lightly.

As we turn the page to a new chapter, I am confident that our organisation is well-positioned not only to meet the challenges ahead but to thrive and continue our mission of providing dignified, compassionate care to older Australians.

Yours sincerely,

Barry Padman
